About Mala
Introduction
Mala Holland is an Accredited Play Therapist and parenting coach working with children and adults from Nottingham to Indonesia.
We use play, creativity and stories to help children process their thoughts and feelings. Enhancing their social, emotional and behavioural skills through a range of activities including sand tray, clay, painting, puppets and stories.
Usually children have one-to-one sessions although sometimes group therapy is more suitable.
We promote the power of positive and secure attachment between parents and child. Helping parents strengthen or rediscover the natural bonds they have with their child.

Raised in Indonesia and finished my education in Bristol, UK, I have worked with parents and children for the past 17 years as an educator, coach and therapist. As a Chinese ethnic who has lived in Indonesia and UK, and having worked with families with diverse cultural backgrounds has given me a wealth of experience, a deep sense of understanding, and respect for the complexities of raising a family today.
I am happy to work in person and potentially, online. Initial review session can be scheduled by phone or video conferencing to work out what a person may need.
A registered member of PTI (Play Therapy International), PTUK (Play Therapy UK), PTIndo (Play Therapy Indonesia) and PTBI (Persatuan Terapis Bermain Indonesia), I'm also a licensed practitioner for Parent-Child Attachment Play and a member of BACP (British Association of Counsellor and Psychotherapist). I attend regular clinical supervision and undergo CPD training to ensure I continue to expand and deepen my knowledge and maintain a high standard of a safe, good and ethical practice.
I am aware that going therapy or even considering the need for one can feel momentous and many people may feel nervous, worried or shy. I will help you through difficult times and help you process and understand what may appear uncomfortable and challenging.
If you are considering personal, creative therapy for yourself or your child, please contact me for an initial, non-obligatory chat. You are welcomed to email me at mala@connectplaytherapy.uk
